Shirley Diane Michael
1950-2024
Shirley Diane Michael, age 74, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, December 20, 2024 at her home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born September 24, 1950 in Hancock, Md., she was the daughter of the late Woodrow and Mary Effland Unger.
She was a member of Highland Church.
Shirley was a graduate of Hancock High School. She was a homemaker to her husband and son. She enjoyed cooking, shopping and seasonal decorating.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 53 years, Larry W. Michael, at home, one son, Justin Wayne Michael and his wife, Jenny of Martinsburg, W.Va., two sisters, Kay Horsbaugh of Bel Air, Md. and Jo Ann Schetrompf of Hancock, Md., two brothers, Rodney Unger of Little Orleans, Md. and Michael Unger of Hancock, Md. and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister, Linda Golden and one brother, Duane Unger.
Graveside services were conducted at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 23, 2024 at Highland Cemetery, 4326 Highland Ridge Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Kenny Mason officiating. The family received friends from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Shirley’s memory may be made to Hospice of the Panhandle, 330 Hospice Lane, Kearneysville, WV.
