Holiday events, parades kick off season this weekend

Morgan County’s holiday events begin in earnest this weekend with several public celebrations.

On Friday, downtown Berkeley Springs merchants will participate in the annual Cocoa Crawl. The public can visit local stores and sample unique flavors of hot chocolate provided by local businesses. Stores will be open late. The Cocoa Crawl begins is held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Maps of different stops can be found online on the event page. The crawl is organized by Hometown Holidays in Berkeley Springs.

Two community Christmas parades will also fill streets this weekend.

Berkeley Springs’ WinterFest Parade will kick off at the Moose Lodge on Saturday, December 7 at 5 p.m. and follow U.S. 522 to WV-9. Line-up begins at 4 p.m. in the parking lots at the American Legion and Moose lodges.

Paw Paw will host its annual Christmas parade along Winchester Street on Sunday, December 8 beginning at 4:30 p.m. The parade will end at the Bank of Romney, where the community’s memorial Lights of Love Christmas tree will be lit.
