A third Morgan County student was expelled from school in October after the Morgan County School Board met in executive session to conduct a hearing on October 30 involving student discipline, suspension and/or expulsion.
Superintendent David Banks said he recommended expulsion for the student in case E2025-03 and that the school board voted 5-0 to expel the student from school. The board took their vote after coming back into open session after the closed expulsion hearing.
Two other students were expelled after two separate expulsion hearings on October 9. Superintendent Banks was unable to provide any details about the three expulsions-students’ ages or grade, gender, school attended or reason for expulsion.
Their attorney has advised Banks that student disciplinary matters are protected by federal and state law, as are the specific details involved.
