Morgan County voters were motivated and full of resolve as voting in the 2024 General Election opened on October 23 through 10 days of early voting.
The opportunity to cast a ballot early ended at the close of Saturday, November 2 at the Morgan County Courthouse. By that time, 3,810 ballots had been cast in this year’s high-stakes presidential election. That kind of turnout far surpasses the 886 ballots that were cast during early voting in the May primary.
Morgan County has 13,921 registered voters, according to the West Virginia Secretary of State’s October report.
Of those, 7,126 are registered as Republicans, 4,362 are registered as No Party (independent) voters, 2,012 are registered Democrats, 134 are registered as Libertarians and 55 are members of the Mountain Party, with 232 voters registered as “other.”
At press time, Morgan County voters were casting ballots in the county’s 13 precincts. Polling places remained open until 7:30 p.m. Preliminary vote totals were shared in the Morgan County Commission room on election night and will be reported online at www.morganmessenger.com and the West Virginia Secretary of State’s website, www.GoVoteWV.com.
