This Thursday, September 26 is national “Save a Life Day” in which communities have organized the largest day of naloxone distribution to date. Over 300 counties from over 30 states are signed up to participate.
Last year, all 13 Appalachian states joined together and distributed over 45,000 naloxone doses during the one-day event.
In Morgan County, volunteers will have five locations set up at which the public can get information about the uses of naloxone, an anti-overdose medication. Individuals can receive a free naloxone kit and have a short training on how to use it properly if needed.
The distribution will take place at these locations from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
–War Memorial Hospital at 1 Healthy Way
–CNB’s Main Branch at 101 S. Washington Street
–Hope House at 47 Union Street
–Valley Health Berkeley Springs Internal Medicine at 3774 Valley Road
–Union Chapel United Methodist Church at 10123 Valley Road.
Local participation with “Save a Life Day” is coordinated by SOAR WV, a Charleston-based community group that promotes the health, dignity, and voices of individuals who are impacted by drug use. They’ve distributed over 20,000 naloxone doses.
