Matthew Keith Dawson, age 58, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., passed this life on Friday, September 6, 2024 at his home.
Born November 12, 1965 in Morgan County, W.Va., he was the first born son of Mark and Ethelene Merchant Dawson.
He attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church as a young child.
Matt was a 1984 class graduate of BSHS.
He was a skilled carpenter who took pride in his work and worked for many years side by side with his dad.
Matt’s time off involved his daughter, Bridget, fishing, hunting and his Harley. He was a loving husband and father.
In addition to his parents, Matt is survived by his wife, Vonnie Burkhart, his loving daughter, Bridget (Caleb), the new love of his life grandson, Wyatt Hudson, stepdaughter, Lexi Visotcky, in-laws, Varnell Burkhart and Shelia Burkhart. Surviving and keeping his memory alive is his little brother, Brad Dawson (Sandy). He is survived by his aunts and uncles, Greg and Jackie Dawson, Julian and Phyllis Jean Dawson, Mike and Kathy Merchant, Ronald Merchant and Kirk and Laura Hutzler, cousins surviving, Mikie, Darius, Karen, Linda and Lisa. Two of his special friends till the end were his Uncle Mike and Randy Kyne.
Going on before him a deceased cousin, Shawn Keller.
Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, September 23, 2024 at Union Chapel United Methodist Church Pavilion, 10123 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va, where parking is permitted beside the pavilion or the parking lot. Pastor Mike Leedom will officiate. A meal will be provided by the ladies of the church in the fellowship hall following the service. Burial will be private.
