Lady Indians dominate in victory over Frankfort Falcons

On Tuesday, August 27, the Berkeley Springs High School Lady Indians soccer team traveled to Ridgely, for a thrilling showdown against sectional rival, the Frankfort Falcons. The Lady Tribe delivered a commanding performance, securing a 6-2 victory and showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive strength.

Sophomore Circe Powell led the charge with a spectacular hat trick, netting three goals to propel the Lady Indians to victory. Powell’s dynamic play was complemented by fellow sophomore Taylor Andrews, who added two goals to the scoreboard, furthering the Lady Tribe’s lead. Freshman Abigail Close celebrated her first high school goal, marking a milestone in her young soccer career.

The Lady Indians’ offense was relentless, with multiple players taking shots on goal. Powell led the team with six shots on target, while Albani Cirginliano, Taylor Andrews, and Aviona Ambrose each contributed five. Additional attempts came from Georgia Powell (3), Abigail Close (2), Katie Risinger (1), Lilli Stevens (1), Emma Frederick (1), Scotlyn Forney (1) and Reese Souders (1).

In goal, sophomore Willow Rhoten was a wall, recording 12 crucial saves to keep the Falcons at bay. Her outstanding performance ensured that the Lady Indians maintained their lead throughout the match. Teammates Katie Risinger and Kira Barham made several outstanding stops in helping out Rhoten as well.

“The Lady Tribe worked on opportunities from their first game and came together to take the win over sectional rivals the Falcons,” stated head coach Steve Havermale. His team’s hard work and de- termination were evident on the field, as they executed a well-rounded game plan that overwhelmed their opponents.

With this victory, the Lady Indians (1-1) have set a strong tone for their season, proving they are a team that will not back down.
