BSHS Athletic Boosters crowns Delilah Rhoten as 2024 Miss Indian

by Jamie Harris

The Berkeley Springs Athletic Boosters hosted their fifth annual Miss Indian contest this year, featuring three determined participants who competed to support the school’s athletic programs. Seniors Delilah Rhoten and Tenacious Ray spent their summer raising funds through various activities from May 23 to August 23.

The 2023 Miss Indian, Ocean Clatterbuck, was present to pass the crown to the new winner before the Berkeley Springs Indians’ kickoff against the Petersburg Vikings. Senior Delilah Rhoten emerged victorious, raising over $5,200, contributing to a grand total of $7,838.17 raised by both contestants. Senior Tenacious Ray’s fundraising efforts brought in $2,638.

As the 2024 Miss Indian, Rhoten will receive a $1,500 scholarship, a reserved parking space at school, a lifetime sports pass and other gifts. Ray, who also worked hard over the summer, will receive a $250 scholarship for her contributions.

The Miss Indian contest is an annual scholarship pro- gram open to all upcoming seniors, offering them the opportunity to raise as much money as possible for Berkeley Springs High School athletics. The funds raised go directly toward much-needed upgrades for the school’ s athletic facilities.
