Police were dispatched to a residence on Wiggins Run Road in Great Cacapon for a drug overdose on Saturday, July 6 at about 9 a.m.
The subject, later identified as Jonathon Day, 42, was unresponsive en route, according to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Morgan County Sheriff’s Deputy Malachi Butts.
When bystanders gave Day two doses of Narcan, he became combative upon regaining consciousness, biting at people present, and ripping at their beard hair, according to the criminal complaint.
Upon arrival at the scene, police observed Day flailing under a pickup truck, banging his head on the asphalt, shrieking unintelligibly, and biting the truck under carriage.
As law enforcement officers worked to subdue and handcuff Day, he bit a state trooper on the back of the leg, according to the criminal complaint.
While being placed on a gurney, Day intentionally spit into the faces of two EMS workers attempting to assist him, according to the criminal complaint.
Day was arrested and charged with battery on an officer and two EMS workers; domestic battery, and obstruction. He was released from jail on a $20,000 bond, and is awaiting a hearing in the incident.
