The fourth annual Bringing in the May will be celebrated this Saturday and Sunday, May 18-19 in Berkeley Springs State Park from 12-6 p.m. each day. Admission is free.
This is a family-friendly event, so bring your favorite sprite to enjoy a tea party with the fairies, dance the Maypole, make magic nature wands, build a fairy house! Chase bubbles! Or admire all the costumes. Organizers offer a Fairy Closet where our Fashionista Fairies can help you find the perfect thing to wear – for a small donation.
Entertainment includes the Black Cat School of Rock bands, Young Yukes, Shangö Mountain Taiko, the WindDance sword dancers, the BlackCat Youth Vocal Group, the Bellysima Bellydancers, and Laz Rapidaz. Frenchy and the Punk return with their punk-infused cabaret, and newcomers Better Weather covers your favorite Grateful Dead tunes.
Wandering about, festival-goers will see stilt walkers, ogres, magical hula hooping with Soolah, Flow dancer Chelsea Manuel. Visitors can sit down and have tea with fairies, join a drumming circle.
Food trucks will supply fuel for hungry fairies. The festival will feature 28 unique vendors who offer handmade artwork.
