Last Friday, April 5, the Berkeley Springs Lady Indians softball team was finally able to get on the field and play a game. With all the rain early in the week the Lady Indians were not able to play their earlier scheduled games. So a trip to East Hardy last Friday despite the cold weather and damp field conditions was what Berkeley Springs needed.
Behind a 13 hit attack the Lady Indians rolled to a 12-6 win over the Cougars. Leading the offensive attack was Bailee Diehl (single, double, triple, 3 runs and 2 RBI’ s), Layla Parsell (single, run and 2 RBI’ s), Jayda Thompson (single, double, 2 runs and 3 RBI’s), Payton Mizell (2 runs), Ocean Clatterbuck (single, double, run and 3 RBI’s), Marley Heath (2 sin- gles and 2 runs), Alaira Harrington (single, run and RBI), Allison Gray (single) and Scotlyn Forney (single and RBI).
Junior Alaira Harrington got the win in the circle. Harrington pitched six innings, striking out seven and scattering eight hits. Senior Ocean Clatterbuck pitched the final inning in relief.
Berkeley Springs (4-8) will be in action again this week. On Monday, April 8 the Lady Indians hosted Spring Mills. On Tuesday, April 9 Berkeley Springs travelled to Frankfort. On Saturday, April 13 the Lady Indians will host Pendleton County at 10 a.m. and then Philip Barbour at 4 p.m.
