For the first time in school history the Paw Paw Pirates track and field team has some astonishing numbers. Coach Tessa Palumbo said the Pirates program is a strong 36 participants between the middle and high school programs. Paw Paw graduated all-state thrower Hunter Kasekamp, but return some key performers who can make a run at the state track and field podium.
Leading the way is cross country and basketball standout Donnie Tanouye. Tanouye is one of the state’s best distance runners and will make some noise in the field events as well.
Joining Tanouye this season as returning members of the high school track pro- gram will be RJ Ryan, Andrew Harold, Andrew Gilberto, Dreden Heath, Tomy Santos, Shayla Tanouye, Priscilla Corbin, Kendall Corbett and Miah Smith.
They will joined by newcomers Payton Faris, Ayden Crabtree, Alexis Kidwell, Joselyn Smith, Taylor Carter and Kiel Gee.
The Paw Paw Middle School track program has many sixth and seventh graders as members of the team this season. Sarai Nunez Mesa, Wyatt Henderson, Connor Kendall, Justice Smith, Ray Cunningham, Audrey Weaver, Madison White, Malia Heath, Jennings Carter and Braylen Paul will look to score points in running and field events for the Pirates.
