A single-vehicle crash along Duckwall Road in central Morgan County took the life of a Berkeley Springs woman this past weekend.
West Virginia State Police responded to a 911 call reporting a single vehicle off the roadway on Sunday, February 18.
Trooper B.A. Meyers determined that a silver Chevrolet Tracker, driven by Bonnie C. Rymes, 44, of Spielman Road, was traveling south on Duckwall Road when it left the roadway.
According to police, Rymes’ vehicle struck several trees and rolled over, coming to rest overturned in a stream.
“Ms. Rymes succumbed to her injuries prior to the report of the incident,” police reported.
Police said based on environmental factors and statements from witnesses, the fatal crash had occurred several days prior to the 911 call and their response.
Troopers could not confirm claims on social media that the vehicle had been seen on its roof on Friday.
The investigation, led by Trooper Meyers, is ongoing at this time.
