Lady Indians down Hancock and Boonsboro

The Berkeley Springs Lady Indians basketball team got back in the win column this week with a win on the road and win at home. The third game did not go the Lady Indians way as they fell at home to Hampshire.

On Monday, January 22 the Lady Indians hit the road for a contest with the Hancock Lady Panthers. Berkeley Springs jumped out to a 14-8 first quarter lead. In the second quarter Hancock fought back to trim the Berkeley Springs lead to 19-17 at the half. In the third quarter the Lady Indians used a 21-8 run to push the score to 40-25. In the final quarter the Lady Indians used a 9-4 run to make the final score 49-29 in favor of the Tribe.

Berkeley Springs was led by Maddie Close (16 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals), Emma Widmeyer (12 points, 8 rebounds and 2 assists), Maddie Fauver (8 points and 11 rebounds), Melissa Seabright (5 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists), Tenacious Ray (4 points, 6 rebounds and 1 steal) Katie Risinger (2 points) and Kira Barham (2 points).

On Wednesday, January 24 the Lady Indians hosted the Hampshire Trojans. In the first two quarters Hampshire raced out to a 27-15 halftime lead. Berkeley Springs rallied in the final two quarters but came up on the short end 48-34.

Berkeley Springs was led by Maddie Fauver (10 points and 9 rebounds), Maddie Close (9 points), Emma Widmeyer (7 points), Grace Risinger (6 points) and Katie Risinger (2 points).

On Thursday, January 25 the Lady Indians hosted the Boonsboro W arriors (Md.). Boonsboro took an 11-9 lead after the first quarter. Berkeley Springs rallied back with a 12-10 run in the second quarter to force a 21-21 tie at the half. In the third quarter Berkeley Springs used an 11- 10 run to take a 32-31 lead. The Lady Indians used another 11-10 run in the fourth quarter to pull off the upset 43-41 win.

Berkeley Springs (6-10) will host Keyser on Thursday, February 1 at 7 p.m.
