Morgan County Schools will receive $367,100 in School Building Authority funding for replacement of the Berkeley Springs High School cafeteria heating, ventilation and air conditioning unit. (HVAC)
The West Virginia School Building Authority with Governor Jim Justice as chairman approved more than $111 million on December 11 for building 10 new schools and performing major renovations in 13 schools in 19 West Virginia counties in Fiscal Year 2024, according to a press release from the Governor’s Office.
The Berkeley Springs High School cafeteria HVAC project was submitted as part of a Morgan County Schools NEEDS project. That proposal also included replacing all HVAC units at Widmyer Elementary, said School Treasurer Ann Bell on Monday.
The combined HVAC NEEDS projects were estimated to cost over $4 million, with the school board contributing $400,000 as a local share. The Widmyer Elementary HVAC project was not funded by the SBA.
Counties that received School Building Authority money to build new schools are Berkeley, Wood, Wyoming, Fayette, Taylor and Marshall Counties.
Counties besides Morgan County that received School Building Authority funding for school renovations are Harrison, Grant, Jackson, Greenbrier, Mason, Logan, Randolph, Calhoun, Hancock, Gilmer, Tucker and Barbour Counties
