Ben Kase is new Warm Springs Middle School Assistant Principal

Berkeley Springs High School English teacher Ben Kase was hired as the new Warm Springs Middle School Assistant Principal at the August 15 Morgan County School Board meeting.

Former middle school Assistant Principal Becky Harden resigned her position at the end of August 3.

Kase has taught English at Berkeley Springs High School for 15 years.  He started his new position on August 11.

Education

Kase received an Associate’s Degree in business from Montgomery Community College, a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in English with an emphasis in writing from Towson State University and a Masters of Art Degree with Honors in Secondary Teacher Education from the University of Phoenix.  He received his Doctorate of Education in Administrative Leadership from Shenandoah University in 2017.

High school experience

Kase participated in the Berkeley Springs High School Administrative Step-up Program for four years from 2013-2017. From 2008-2017 Kase managed ninth grade classroom coverage of remedial and on-level students, handling professional development, curriculum design, student assessments, parent communications and lesson planning.

Kase was the Berkeley Springs High School on site 504 coordinator for three years and also managed the Out of School Education (OSE) program for two years, monitoring students who were leaving campus for work or college technical classes. He organized and distributed state testing scores to teachers and tracked grade-level student progress.

Kase designed and implemented the Berkeley Springs High School online school store and the Student Rewards Program, integrated computer technology into the curriculum to supplement lectures and successfully tutored and mentored students with learning disabilities while raising state test scores.

Kase also developed and oversaw the process of selecting a school logo for the high school which included a survey and logo contest submissions.

Kase was also nominated for Berkeley Springs High School Teacher of the Year eight times and earned two Extra Miler awards for going far beyond his job responsibilities at the high school. Kase was also voted as the graduation commencement speaker by the high school senior class of 2016.

Middle school duties

Kase said that his duties at Warm Springs Middle School as Assistant Principal will include discipline for all grades, alternative education and in-school suspension, assisting with the MC After 3 program, athletics/WVSSAC, threat assessment, school crisis response team, observations and evaluations, their Parent, Teacher, Student organization (PTSO), attendance, the school Facebook page/website and community relations/partnerships.

Kase said that he is extremely excited to get started in his new position as middle school Assistant Principal.

“I love teaching students and building lifelong bonds with kids,” Kase said.
