Donald D. DeLash
1935-2023
Donald D. DeLash, 88, of Chambersburg, Pa., passed away on Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at the Chambersburg Hospital.
Born February 5, 1935 in Hazleton, Pa., he was a son of the late Alphonse and Mary M. (Kravitz) DeLash. His beloved wife, Chizuko DeLash, preceded him in death on March 7, 2011.
Donald served the Lord as a Catholic Priest for 12 years of his life. A U.S. Navy veteran, he served honorably as a Chaplain during the Vietnam War. He later met his wife and was married on December 14, 1973. Donald was employed as a U.S. Probation Officer for 20 years and as a Background Investigator for the FBI for 19 years.
He is survived by four nephews, David Karch of Hazleton, Pa., James DeLash (Sharon) of Warrington, Pa., Donald DeLash (Evelyn) of Doylestown, Pa., and Tom DeLash (Dolly) of Woodsboro, Md.; one niece, Carol Darr of Covington, La.; and his wife’s daughter, Hitomi Herrmans of Seattle, Wa.
Aside from his wife and parents, Donald was preceded in death by three siblings, Florence Karch, Mary Davison and Xavier DeLash.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., on Monday, August 21, 2023 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, 320 Philadelphia Avenue, Chambersburg, PA 17201. Fr. Allan Wolfe will be the celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held in Arlington Cemetery at a later date.
