Thurman R. Eaton
1932-2023
Thurman R. Eaton, 90, Paw Paw, W.Va., passed peacefully on Monday, July 24, 2023 at Heartfields Assisted Living in Frederick, Md.
Thurman was predeceased by his wife, Naomi M. Eaton (Moreland) on January 11, 1982.
Born in Critton Hollow, W.Va., on August 25, 1932, he was the son of the late Elmer and Gracie Milburn Eaton.
Devoted, loving and proud father to daughter, Deborah Eaton Thackston, Frederick, Md., and son, Jeff Eaton, Bethany Beach, Delaware. Also surviving, son-in-law Mike Thackston and daughter-in-law RoseMarie Eaton; dear brother of Aimee Hartman (Elmer) Keyser, W.Va., Marshall Eaton (Cleo) Paw Paw, W.Va., and Maxine Bise, Inwood, W.Va., and the late Curtis Eaton, Beulah Clowser, Ray Eaton and Ruth Windsor. Thurman is survived by four grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
A U.S. Navy veteran, Thurman served in the Korean War.
He was a member of the American Legion 0128, Paw Paw, W.Va.
Mr. Eaton spent most of his life living and working in Baltimore, Md., at the Bethlehem Steel Corporation and then Johns Hopkins Hospital. After retirement, he moved to Newark, Delaware where he enjoyed completing residential painting jobs with his brother-in-law, Tom Kasecamp, for over a decade.
Thurman loved Paw Paw, W.Va., and in 2008 the country roads brought him back to his home at 3030 Paw Paw, West Virginia, where he resided until 2021, spending time with his friend Dolores Carlson.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 11 a.m., at Lighthouse Assembly of God Church, Paw Paw, W.Va., with Pastor Mark Riley officiating. Interment was in Woodrow Cemetery, Paw Paw, W.Va., with military rites accorded by the U.S. Navy.
The family received friends on Wednesday, 5-7 p.m., at the church.
