Berkeley Springs man arrested on two drug counts

A Morgan County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling the 1200 block of Winchester Grade Road observed a black Dodge Dakota traveling north in the southbound lane on Wednesday, July 12 at about 5:20 p.m.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Deputy Knotts, the truck was going in the wrong direction at 51 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Deputy Knotts initiated a traffic stop, recognizing the driver as Patrick N. Drury, 49, of Berkeley Springs, and asked him to step out of the vehicle for a pat down.

In Drury’ s pockets were a knife, which he reportedly attempted to grab, a syringe, and what the officer referred to as a “meth pipe.”

Drury consented to a search of the vehicle, where two small bags of methamphetamine and two Suboxone strips without a prescription were found in a cigarette pack on the passenger seat.

Drury was arrested and charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance. He was later released on a $2,500 bail bond and is awaiting a hearing.
