A slogan for the bypass – contest could create “hook” for downtown

by Trish Rudder

A small core focus group including Town of Bath officials are in the beginning stages of developing ideas for signage along U.S. 522 and the bypass. The group will be expanded as information comes in.

At the July 11 Town of Bath council meeting, Historic Landmarks Commission president John Mason told the council that the community will be able to participate in creating a slogan that will go on the large brown state highway signs that will read “Lodging, Food, Entertainment.”

The slogan must be five words or less describing the entryway like “America’s First Spa,” for example.

The slogan must meet the approval of the Morgan County Commission.

More information will be forthcoming as the project is firmed up.

Mason said the slogan should be determined in the September-October timeframe.

“This is a contest of ideas” said Town Recorder Susan Webster.
