Carole Ann Mullin Habash

Carole Ann Mullin Habash, of Sugar Land, Texas, died Thursday, May 11, 2023, at University Hospital in San Antonio, Texas.
Carole was born on December 27, 1940, in Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Alton “Bud” John Mullin and Anna V. Dawson Mullin. She was a descendant of one of Morgan County, West Virginia’s oldest families.
She attended Berkeley Springs High School, graduating in 1958. She then graduated from King’s Daughters Hospital Nursing School in Martinsburg, West Virginia, in 1960. Following graduation, she worked as a registered nurse at Philadelphia General Hospital in the Pediatrics and Psychiatry departments, and took graduate classes at the University of Pennsylvania. She was recruited to Misericordia Hospital in Philadelphia as head nurse for their new Psychiatry Unit, and continued in that role for several years before accepting a position as research nurse within the Department of Psychiatry at University of Pennsylvania.
She married Samir Najib “Sam” Habash on July 31, 1965, at St. Thomas of Villanova Chapel in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Sam and Carole lived in the Philadelphia area for many years, as well as northern New Jersey and Maryland, before moving to the Houston, Texas suburb of Sugar Land. She lived in San Antonio, Texas since 2017.
Carole was a talented artist and singer, and dearly loved her pet cocker spaniels. She was an excellent chef, and mastered many dishes from various cultures across the globe. Her Christmas baking often involved twenty different types of cookies that were lovingly gifted to friends and family. Carole loved to garden, growing both flowers and fruits/vegetables. Throughout her life and especially in her later years, she was a voracious reader and most enjoyed historical fiction and mysteries. In memory of her daughter, she was a founding member of The Children’s Inn at NIH, which provides a residence and support for families whose children are participating in clinical research studies at the National Institutes of Health.
She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Habash (Andrew Crews) of San Antonio, Texas; her son, Christopher (Kelly) Habash, of Sugar Land, Texas; three grandchildren, Samantha Habash of Sugar Land, Texas and Matthew and Benjamin Crews of San Antonio, Texas; her brother, Larry (Elizabeth Gray) Mullin of Winchester, Virginia; along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Kimberly Ann Habash in 1972 and her husband, Sam Habash in 2005.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at Greenway Cemetery, 284 Greenway Drive, Berkeley Springs, WV. Family and friends are invited to lunch following the service at Charlotte’s Café, 495 S. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs, West Virginia.
