National Trails Day, this Saturday, June 3, will be celebrated in Hancock with activities and speakers. The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Hancock is Maryland’s official Trail Town, located on the C&O Canal and near the midpoint of the 250-mile-long Tuscarora Trail, which branches off the Appalachian Trail in Shenandoah National Park and heads north to Duncannon, Pa.
Potomac Appalachian Trail Club (PATC), the C&O Canal Association, and other groups will have booths along the south side of the canal in the center of town.
PATC has scheduled two speakers and will lead short hikes along the Tuscarora Trail.
