Gilbert Linwood Kerr

1932-2023

Gilbert Linwood “Gil” Kerr, age 90, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died on Friday, April 21, 2023 at Sterling Care at South Mountain in Boonsboro, Md. while under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born October 21, 1932 in Baltimore, Md., he was the son of the late George Alexander and Elizabeth Mary Ziegler Kerr.

He was a high school graduate.

Gil served with the United States Navy from September 27, 1951 until his honorable discharge on September 2, 1955 at the rank of a Seaman Recruit during the Korean War, where he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal.

He worked as a clerk with Bethlehem Steel Company in Sparrows Point, Md.

Gil was a 25 year member of Alderton-Dawson American Legion Post #60, where he was active with the weekly Wednesday bingo night and was an active 20 year member with the Tri-State Honor Guard. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #1483 in Berkeley Springs and a Masonic Lodge member in Maryland.

Gil enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Gil is survived by his wife, Linda Lou Waugh Kerr at home, two sons, James Wilson of Palm Coast, FL and Jay Wilson of Dundalk, Md. and one grandson, Michael Scott Wilson.

Celebration of Life service will be at a later date. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Gil’s memory may be made to the Tri-State Honor Guard, c/o Tom Kiley, 527 N. Washington Street, Berkeley Springs, WV 25411.
