Artists & crafters wanted for Paw Paw library art show

by Kate Evans

Paw Paw Public Library Director Ginny DiFrancesco said that their library is organizing an arts and crafts show from April 24-May 6.  Set-up for the art show begins the morning of Monday, April 24 around 9 a.m.

Organizers hope to include paintings,  woodworking, jewelry, quilting, knitting, crocheting, mosaics, leather crafts, ceramics, flowers and plants, soaps and oils, sewing, pottery, wreaths and other items in the art show, said DiFrancesco.  The library’s board of directors felt the art show would draw more people in to see the library, she said.

DiFrancesco said she’s already had a few artists and craft makers express interest in participating in the show.  One makes hemp products like lotions and soaps and another is a painter. They already have an artist’s ceramics on display. DiFrancesco said that people are welcome to sell their wares at the art show.  She hopes to arrange some crafts demonstrations as well.

There is no deadline to sign up to have arts and crafts in the art show, but DiFrancesco encourages people to call the library at 304-947-7037 to reserve a spot.

Musical interests

Another project DiFrancesco is working on is putting together a grant to hire a music instructor to get kids at school more introduced to music.

She needs parents to let her know what instruments their children are interested in learning.  Call DiFrancesco at the library at 304-947-7013 to share musical interests that could be included in the library effort.
