Lecias commissioned Chaplain in West Virginia National Guard

Rev. Michael Lecias, pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, left, was commissioned as the first Catholic Chaplain in West Virginia National Guard history. Col. Jamie Bowen swore in Lecias on Monday, March 27, in a special ceremony at the church. Lecias was sworn with the rank of Captain. Col. Bowen welcomed around 30 people to the ceremony followed by a prayer by Col. Mike Allen, Senior Chaplain for the West Virginia National Guard. Lecias, who recently was installed as Pastor of St. Vincent de Paul, spoke on why he wanted to join the National Guard and thanked everyone for their prayers and support. Following pictures with veterans who attended and Knights of Columbus members, a small reception was held in the church hall.
