School board approves retirements, resignations, hires & coaching staff

The Morgan County School Board approved the following school personnel changes at their recent meetings:

Widmyer Elementary kindergarten teacher Pam Ryan is retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Widmyer Elementary first grade teacher Dena Kerns is retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Warm Springs Intermediate School special education teacher Linda Cain is retiring effective at the end of March 31.

Tina Cannon was employed as Federal Programs and Grant Administration Coordinator, the effective date to be determined.

Jared Spielman was hired as Warm Springs Middle School health/physical education teacher beginning with the 2023-2024 school year.

Jessica Mirfin and Kathleen Fisher were employed as Widmyer Elementary first grade teachers starting with the 2023-2024 school year.

Julia Simpkins’ position as Warm Springs Middle School long-term substitute English/language arts teacher was converted to Warm Springs Middle School English/language arts teacher beginning March 8.

Alex Banks was hired as long-term substitute Warm Springs Middle School health/physical education teacher beginning February 22 for the rest of the school year.

Suzanne Burhoe was employed as a long-term substitute Berkeley Springs High School English/language arts teacher starting February 22 for the rest of the school year.

Renee Robertson was hired as a substitute teacher beginning March 13.

Erin Marshall was employed as a restricted substitute teacher starting March 13.

Professional resignations

Berkeley Springs High School social studies teacher Terry Rea resigned with the effective date to be determined.

Kim Mason, Berkeley Springs High School special education teacher for the intellectually disabled (severe, profound), autism, resigned effective at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Warm Springs Middle School science teacher Ann Agregaard resigned effective at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Berkeley Springs High School counselor Savannah Smith resigned effective at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

County speech language pathologist Elizabeth Sirbaugh resigned effective at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Change of status

The status of Rhiannon Ritenour, Paw Paw High School long-term substitute multi-categorical special education with autism teacher, was changed to multi-categorical special education with autism teacher beginning February 22. (alternative certification program.)

Positions restructured

The school board approved restructuring a Paw Paw Schools math and general science teacher position for grades 7-12 to a math teacher position for grades 7-12.

A Warm Springs Intermediate School special education teacher for multiple impairments (MI) position was restructured to a Warm Springs Intermediate School multi-categorical special education teacher with autism position.

A Berkeley Springs High School special education teacher for the intellectually disabled (severe, profound) with autism position was restructured to a Berkeley Springs High School multi-categorical special education teacher with autism position.

Service personnel

Lisa Unger, Widmyer Elementary aide/early childhood classroom assistant teacher (ECCAT), is retiring at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.

Stephen McDoniel was employed as an unassigned bus driver beginning February 22.

John Munson was hired as long-term substitute bus driver for Bus 16-10 (Paw Paw) starting February 22 for the rest of the school year.

Widmyer Elementary aide Bea Shaw was granted an unpaid leave of absence from January 31 to February 28.  Her leave of absence was extended from March 1 to March 14.

Shawn Diehl was employed as a substitute bus driver beginning February 22.

Extracurricular/extra duty

Gillian Keeling was hired as a Berkeley Springs High School mentor teacher starting February 8, as needed.

Alyssa Bender, Kimberly Pindell and Adam Keeling were employed as Widmyer Elementary MC After 3 Jr. teachers for the 2022-2023 school year beginning February 8 as needed.

Christina Dillman-Hahn was hired as Widmyer Elementary MC After 3 Jr. teacher starting March 8 as needed.

Shannon Brown resigned as Widmyer Elementary kindergarten team leader effective at the end of February 14.

Additional bus run

The school board approved a supplemental EPIC morning bus run to Widmyer Elementary every other Monday and every Tuesday starting February 21 as needed.  The funding source is Special Education.

Preston Bowers was hired for the morning supplemental bus run beginning March 8, every other Monday and every Tuesday, as needed.

Coaches

Wesley Eddy was employed as Berkeley Springs High School head football coach beginning with the 2023-2024 season.

Randy Beal was hired as Berkeley Springs High School head tennis coach starting February 8.

Shawn Prinkey was employed as Berkeley Springs High School assistant baseball coach beginning February 8.

Amanda Henry was hired as Berkeley Springs High School assistant tennis coach starting February 22.

Pedro Miguel, Lacee Kidwell, David Aberegg, Michael Powell and Ian Helmick were employed as Berkeley Springs High School volunteer assistant track coaches for the 2022-2023 season starting February 8.

Seth Place was approved as a Berkeley Springs High School volunteer assistant track coach for the 2022-2023 season beginning March 8.

David Michael and Jess Dusing resigned as Berkeley Springs High School assistant football coaches effective at the end of March 7.
