Services

Services that RTW Electric, LLC provides include service calls, whole home rewiring, troubleshooting electrical calls, wiring for additions and renovations, interior and exterior lighting, inspection and testing, pools and hot tubs, service upgrades, new electrical service, breaker box upgrades and backup generator installations. Wood will also ensure that a home or business is up to code and functioning optimally.

Wood serves Morgan, Berkeley and Jefferson Counties by himself at present.  He said he’ll be adding a first-year apprentice when larger jobs come about.

Electrician background

Wood went to James Rumsey Technical Institute for two years in high school where he got his education in being an electrician.

Wood started his career as an electrician at Ellsworth Electric in Hagerstown and worked there for eight or nine years.  Then he went on to another all-commercial electric outlet for government contracts in Frederick and did multiple jobs in Washington D.C. and Baltimore.

Wood said that all of his career had been in Maryland and that he had traveled on the road for 20 years.  He decided that he wanted to move on and use his expertise to serve his local community.  Wood is excited to have the opportunity to be providing high-quality electrical service in his home county and state of West Virginia.

Wood is a third-generation electrician in his family and said he was holding a screwdriver in his hand at age 10 with his dad and grandfather.

Free estimates

Wood provides a free estimate for all major projects. His free estimates don’t include real estate estimates and minor repairs. Wood said he is reasonably and competitively priced. Email is the best way to request an estimate.

Wood said that the electricians he’s met only do either residential or commercial jobs.  It’s hard to find one that does both, like he does.

Wood said that he’s happy to stay home in Morgan County and is looking forward to meeting new people in the area.

“There’s a lot of good people in Morgan County,” Wood said.

He’s looking to keep his business small and may in time scale back to just serving Morgan County.

On his website Wood advised people to call an electrician whenever they have an electrical problem, for their personal safety and so their home electrical system remains up to code.
