Lady Indians take tennis win over Moorefield

The 2023 spring sports season kicked off last week and the Berkeley Springs High School tennis programs were ready for action. Both the boy’ s and girl’ s programs hosted the Moorefield Y ellow Jackets at the Warm Springs tennis courts on Wednesday, March 15.

The Lady Indians picked up the 6-1 win over Moorefield. Earning wins in singles action were Emma Christie, Truly Henry, Lilly Morgan and Bryn Dudash. Picking up doubles wins were Christie/ Henry and Morgan/Dudash.

On the boy’s side the Indians lost 4-3 to the Yellow Jackets. Picking up singles wins were Branden Pindell and Cardin Beal. Picking up doubles wins were Beal and Justin Brinegar.

Both teams will be back in action on Wednesday, March 22 at Spring Mills.

The tennis teams are under new guidance this season as longtime coach Raynette Mock stepped down along with assistant Ryan Fincham. The new head coach this season is Randy Beal and assistant is Amanda Henry.

Seniors: Cardin Beal, Branden Pindell, Corey Verkouteren, Emma Christie and Bryn Dudash.

Juniors: Justin Brinegar, Lillian Morgan and Truly Henry.

Newcomers
Senior: Kaydence Trantor. Junior: Jacob Shekey. Freshmen: Brody Beal,

Landon Litten, Elijah Stevens, Gabriel Meyers and Scarlett Swink.

Outlook

With a strong top four seeded boys and top four seeded girls, the Indians are hoping to claim their own PVC title vs. Keyser, Frankfort, Petersburg and Moorefield.

Regional play should favor the Indians as well based on the returning players for both the boys and girls teams.
