The Berkeley Springs Indians varsity basketball team got back in the win column this past week with a home victory over Moorefield after a loss to Southern Fulton earlier in the week.
On Monday, February 13 the Indians traveled to Southern Fulton (Pa.) for a showdown with the Pennsylvania version of the Indians. Southern Fulton jumped out to a 10-9 lead after the first quarter. Berkeley Springs rallied in the second period to take a 17-16 halftime lead. The third quarter saw Southern Fulton use an 18-14 run to take a 34-31 lead. The final quarter the home team put together an impressive 17-8 run to lock up the 51-29 win over Berkeley Springs.
Berkeley Springs was led by T y’ Mir Ross (10 points), Landon Schetrompf (9 points), Holden Gurson (6 points), Gavin Young (6 points), Jacob Shekey (6 points) and Carlester Allen (2 points).
On Wednesday, February 15 the Indians hosted the Moorefield Yellow Jackets at the BSHS Gymnasium. Berkeley Springs took a 12- 11 lead after the first quarter. In the second quarter Moore- field rallied and was able to tie the Tribe up at 26-26 at the half. The third quarter Berkeley Springs started to pull away as they took a 43- 35 lead. The final quarter the Tribe wrapped up the win by the score of 64-58.
Berkeley Springs was led by Ross (26 points), Gurson (12 points), Schetrompf (9 points), Shekey (5 points), Young (4 points) and Dakota Hamrick (1 point).
