Donald Kerns
1932-2023
Mr. Donald “Pop” Kerns, 90, of Paw Paw, West Virginia passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at Hampshire Memorial Hospital in Romney, West Virginia.
He was born May 12, 1932 at Paw Paw and was the son of the late Joseph and Thelma Robertson Kerns.
Pop worked at PPG Industries in Cumberland, Md. and then retired from Schmidt Baking Company. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
On December 15, 1951, he married Darla J. Gordon Kerns, who preceded him in death on September 4, 2007. An infant son, Joseph Kerns, and a grandson, Michael Scott Kerns (1967-2018) also predeceased him.
Pop is survived by one daughter, Kathy and her husband, Bruce Griffin of Arcadia, Fla.; one sister, Ruth Robertson of Ridgeley, W.Va.; one brother, Eldridge Kerns of Paw Paw; one granddaughter, Melissa and her husband, Nicholas Villafuerte; three great-grandchildren, Dustin, Cristiana and Daniel; two great-great-grandchildren, Mariah and Gabriella and four step-great-grandchildren, Caden, Sariah, Neovani and Romeo.
A funeral service was held Sunday, February 19 at Kimble Funeral Home in Paw Paw with Eldridge Kerns officiating.
Interment was at Camp Hill Cemetery in Paw Paw.
