Bernard Kerns
1955-2023
Bernard Kerns, age 67, of Hancock, Md., died on Monday, February 13, 2023 at Hagerstown Health Care.
Born April 11, 1955 in Rantoul, Ill., he was the son of Freda May Younker Kerns of Hancock, Md. and the late Cletus Elson Kerns.
He attended Hancock Assembly of God. Bernard attended Hancock public schools.
He had worked at Jefferson Cheese in Hancock, Zero Pack in Winchester, Va., Green Springs Water in Indian Springs, Md. and Washington County Roads.
Bernard enjoyed watching TV game shows.
In addition to his mother, Bernard is survived by his siblings, Debra Elaine Kerns of Harrisonville, Pa., Brenda Mae Ritz of Murrysville, Pa. and Brenda Lee Bain of Hancock and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Cletus Denver Kerns, Steven Kerns and Vernon Lee Kerns.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Donald Preston officiating. Burial will be Orchard Ridge Church of God Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
