Indians wrestlers take down St. James, Mercersburg and Shippensburg

This past week the Berkeley Springs Indians wrestling team was able to pick up three duals wins. Two of those wins came on the road at Mercersburg Academy and the third was in front of the Berkeley Springs faithful on senior day recognition.

On Wednesday, January 18 the Indians hit the road for a tri match at Mercersburg Academy (Pa.) along with St. James (Md.). In match one against St. James the Indians rolled to a 59-18 win. In the second match of the evening, Berkeley Springs took care of Mercersburg 66-12.

Going 2-0 at the tri match for the Indians were Eligah Parsell (106), Daniel Clark (113), Adyn Laird (126), Trent Fox (132), Isaac Harris (150), Evan Zombro (157) and Kollin Sullivan (165). Going 1-0 were Jacob Mor- gan (120), Aiden Cain (138) and Garrin Place (138). Finishing 1-1 were Brady Wilt (215), DeMario Cook (190) and Krystian Norris (175). Lilly Morgan (120), Chase Stotler (144) and Michael Holiday (165) picked up exhibition wins.

On Saturday, January 21 the Indians hosted the Shippensburg Greyhounds in a late morning dual. Before the matches started the wrestling program recognized seniors Gabriel Clark, DeMario Cook, Isaac Harris, Katelyn Hess (mat stat) and Kaydence Tranter.

Once the match started against the Pennsylvania visitors there was a lot of solid wrestling going back and forth. The Indians once again proved that they are tough as ever as they recorded an impressive 58-21 win over the Greyhounds.

Picking up wins for the Indians were Eligah Parsell, Daniel Clark, Jacob Morgan, Adyn Laird, Trent Fox, Aiden Cain, Will Gageby, Isaac Harris, Kollin Sullivan and Brady Wilt.

The Indians are off this week and will be back on the mat starting on January 31 for a tri match at Northern Garrett High School along with Southern Garrett starting at 6 p.m. Then on Saturday, February 4 the Indians will travel to East Hardy High School for the 2023 Potomac Valley Conference Championships.
