by Kate Evans

The Morgan County School Board expelled two students in December, one at their December 6 meeting and the other at their December 20 meeting. The board went into closed executive session at the end of each meeting to discuss possible action related to student discipline, suspension and/or expulsion.

In the first case E2022-01, the school board unanimously approved the superintendent’s recommendation to expel the student after reconvening in open session on December 6.

On December 20, the school board voted to accept the superintendent’ s recommendation to expel the student involved in case E2022-02 for 45 days after they returned to open session.

Superintendent Kristen Tuttle declined to release any information regarding the expulsions citing student confidentiality. Information requested was the student’ s age or grade, gender, school and the reason for the expulsion.
