Schedule of Interim Committee meetings of the West Virginia Legislature at Cacapon State Park

Sunday, November 13

1 p.m. — Legislative Oversight Commission on Health and Human Resources Accountability, Rumsey Room. On the agenda are presentations from the Office of Health Facilities and presentation and findings concerning the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources.

Senator Craig Blair (R-Berkeley) and Delegate Ken Reed (R-Morgan) sit on this committee.

1 p.m. – Select Committee on Infrastructure, Washington-Fairfax Room.

Delegate George Miller (R-Morgan) sits on this committee.

2:30 p.m. – Joint Committee on Government and Finance, Washington-Fairfax Room. Senator Craig Blair (R-Berkeley) and Senator Charles Trump (R-Morgan) sit on this committee.

4 p.m. – Joint Standing Committee on Education. Meeting set for The Pines Opportunity Center in Berkeley Springs. On the agenda are presentations of visions and goals from David Roach, State Superintendent of Schools, discussion of competency in literacy and math in third grade, and a presentation on Martin Luther King, Jr. curriculum by the head of Colorado’s MLK Holiday Commission.

4 p.m. — Joint Standing Committee on Government Organization, Washington-Fairfax Room. On their agenda is an overview from Paul Johansen, Chief of Wildlife for the DNR, on agency management of the state’s Wildlife Management Areas, and a presentation on federal funding related to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. A state highway engineer will also discuss Interstate Signage.

 

Monday, November 14

1 p.m. – Joint Standing Committee on Finance, Rumsey Room.

1 p.m. – Joint Standing Committee on the Judiciary, Washington-Fairfax Room.

Senator Charles Trump (R-Morgan) is the Chairman of this committee. Delegate Ken Reed (R-Morgan) sits on this committee.

2:30 p.m. — Joint Committee on Health, Washington-Fairfax Room. On their agenda are presentations relating to maternal and infant mortality in West Virginia, and an update on Mountaineer Behavioral Health Center. Delegate Ken Reed (R-Morgan) and Delegate George Miller (R-Morgan) sit on this committee.

2:30 p.m. – Joint Committee on Natural Gas Development, Rumsey Room. Senator Charles Trump (R-Morgan) sit on this committee as a nonvoting member.

4 p.m.Joint Standing Committee on Energy. Agenda includes a presentation on the potential need for a “Good Samaritan Statute” by the WV Manufacturer’s Association.

5 p.m. – Legislative Oversight Commission on Education Accountability. Agenda includes the status of a system of support for early literacy, and report on new safety and security measures by county boards of education.

 

Tuesday, November 15

1 p.m. — Commission on Special Investigations, Washington-Fairfax Room.

Senator Craig Blair (R-Berkeley) and Senator Charles Trump (R-Morgan) sit on this committee.

1 p.m. — Joint Commission on Economic Development, Rumsey Room.

Senator Charles Trump (R-Morgan) sits on this committee.

2:30 p.m. — Joint Standing Committee on Pensions and Retirement, Rumsey Room. Agenda includes discussion of possible transfer of pension benefits for police officers and firefighters from the Public Employees’ Retirement System (PERS) to the Municipal Police Officers and Firefighters Retirement System (MPFRS).

4 p.m. —  Joint Committee on Children and Families, Washington-Fairfax Room.

4 p.m. — Legislative Oversight Committee on Regional Jail and Correctional Facility Authority, Rumsey Room. On their agenda is a report regarding per diem payment of fees.
