Inwood man jailed after traffic stop

A Morgan County Sheriff’s deputy nabbed a suspected pot dealer following a traffic stop on Winchester Grade Road October 30.

According to a criminal complaint filed in Morgan County Magistrate Court by Deputy Hedrick, police running stationary radar stopped a Silver Honda Accord traveling around 55 mph in a 40 mph zone.

Deputy Hedrick allegedly detected the aroma of raw marijuana emanating from the car, and executed a reasonable-cause search of the vehicle. He reportedly discovered a gallon-size zip lock bag filled with five sandwich- sized initialed bags inside the floorboard of the back seat.

The car’s driver, Benjamin C. Norton, 34, of Inwood was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver.

Norton was released from jail on a $5,000 bond and is awaiting a hearing in the matter.
