Evelyn Eveon Hedges Smith Sims Evelyn Eveon Hedges Smith Sims, 84, of Hedgesville, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 28, 2022. Born in Berkeley County, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Charles N. Hedges and Emma Frances Riggs Hedges. She is survived by one daughter, Retta V. Henry and husband, David; one granddaughter, Meredyth Hofe McCormick and husband, Dylan; one sister, Jettie Johnson; sister-in-law, Louise Blakley; and her fur babies, Sweet Pea, Lucy and Slim. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Cecil Ray Smith; her second husband, Kenneth Sims; three brothers, Roy, James (Bill), and Raymond (Toe Joe) Hedges; one sister, Hazel; brothers-in-law, Donald Whittington and Beverly Johnson; and sister-in-law Genevieve Hedges. Evelyn worked at Inwood Mill, Musselman Apple Plant, cook at Pleasant View School and volunteered for things: Pleasant View Community Center, PTA President, softball team Mother, helped with the Berkeley Springs Marching Band. She, along with her husband, Kenny, made and decorated cakes, a baker of all kinds, pies, bread, apple dumplings, candies, jelly and jams, apple butter selling at the Apple Butter Festival in Berkeley Springs, W.Va. She assisted her husband Kenny in school party activities. She loved helping children in any way she could. She loved to cook and take dinner to others but most of all loved serving God and singing gospel songs in many churches. She touched many lives, was giving to others and was a faithful wife. She was a member of Miracle Center (Independent Church of God, late Pastor Hennis Fox and Johnsontown Church of the Brethren, Pastor Dennis Rhoe). Family will receive friends on Thursday, September 1, 2022 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2, 2022 with nephew, Jerry Cox and Pastor Dennis Rhoe officiating at Snyder’s Bible Church. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Snyder’s Chapel Cemetery.
