Vicki Marie Shaw-Anderson

1959-2022

Vicki Marie Shaw-Anderson, 63, Hancock, Md., passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022, peacefully at her home, with her loved ones and her best friend by her side.

Born May 22, 1959, she was the daughter of Stanley and Marie Shaw, and the oldest of five sisters.

She was a graduate of Hancock High School, class of 1977.

She had a successful career as a radio personality on 104.7, WAYZ, but her real love was singing and playing music. Her musical career started at a very young age in church. Later she began singing gospel music with her parents in a band called ‘The Singing Ambassadors.’ She also sang and performed in the ensemble, ‘Friends and Spirit,’ which is where she met her husband, Michael. Michael began accompanying her voice by playing guitar while she sang. They started their first band, ‘White Raven.’ The band that she is best known for is ‘Tori Anderson and Possum Holler.’

She was a follower of Christ and had a powerful relationship with the Lord. She attended Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, but also enjoyed her alone time with God, sitting on the porch in a rocking chair, reading her Bible and listening to the birds. She enjoyed sharing her “Sunday Sermons” with her fan base.

She displayed remarkable courage and strength fighting her illness and did so by constantly praising God for his never-ending strength. She found blessings in every day. If asked how she was feeling, her response would always be “best day of my life so far.”

She loved her family and friends with everything she had. Christmas was her favorite holiday. Her Christmas tree shined bright and blue all year long in her living room.

Her lucky seven grandkids were her greatest joy and her spirit and spunk will live on through them.

Vicki is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael Anderson; three children, Dustin Beal, Summer Widmyer and Kayla Byrne; her parents, Stanley and Marie Shaw; seven grandchildren, Sienna Widmyer, Hayden Widmyer, Ava Beal, Joe Beal, Gracelyn Byrne, Isaac Byrne and Maria Beal; two sons-in-law, Tom Widmyer and Zack Byrne; one daughter-in-law, Angeline Beal; four sisters, Barb Clark, Debbie Bowman, Tammy Golden and Cathy Moats; eight nieces and nephews; and aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sierra Anderson; her grandparents, Merrill and Dolly Shaw, Jessie Bishop-Gallion and Gilbert Gallion; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
