Shirley Kay Elbin

1955-2021

Shirley Kay Elbin, 66, of Old 126, Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away peacefully on Friday, November 5, 2021, with her significant other and caregiver, Richard Ritz, by her side.

She was born October 11, 1955, in Everett, Pa., and was the daughter of late Clifford J. Simmons and Marlene E. (Hammond) Simmons.

Shirley is survived by her significant other, Richard Ritz, of Warfordsburg, Pa.; her mother, Marlene Simmons, of Chaneysville, Pa.; a daughter, Michele Miller, married to Jason, of New Paris, Pa.; two grandchildren, Olivia and Owen Miller; and a sister, Cindy Miller, married to Terry, of Schellsburg, Pa. She is also survived by many other friends and family.

She was preceded in death by her father, Clifford J. Simmons, whom passed on January 11, 2018.

Shirley was baptized in the Chaneysville Methodist Church.

She was a graduate of Everett High School. She first worked at Ratcliff’s (Chaneysville) General Store in Chaneysville, Pa. She later went on to work at Howard Johnsons in Breezewood, Pa., Bi-Lo in Bedford, Pa., and Burger King.

She enjoyed tending to her garden and flowers, canning, and cooking.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 12 noon at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Ragged Mountain Road, Chaneysville, Pa.

Arrangements were entrusted to Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, MD 21750.
