A multi-agency search warrant operation last Thursday, August 26 in the eastern part of Morgan County led to the seizure of fentanyl, crack cocaine, synthetic drugs, prohibited firearms and cash, and the arrest of one individual.
At press time, police had said the wouldn’t release the name of the person arrested.
In a press release issued on Monday, Morgan County Sheriff K.C. Bohrer said members of the Eastern Panhandle Drug & Violent Crime Task Force, along with the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Department S.W.A.T. Team and the Morgan County Sheriff’s Department had executed a search warrant last Thursday at a residence in the Hedgesville area of Morgan County.
The search warrant was the result of an ongoing investigation by the Task Force, said Bohrer.
When officers executed the search warrant, they reportedly found fentanyl/heroin mixture capsules, ‘boot” (Schedule I Cathinone), marijuana, Schedule II and III prescription pills, and crack cocaine.
The narcotics were accompanied with digital scales and other paraphernalia associated with the distribution of narcotics, police said.
Officers located $3,600 of U.S. currency in the residence they were searching, and also found two firearms in “close proximity” to the drugs. Bohrer said the occupant of the residence is prohibited from having firearms because that person is a convicted felon.
According to Bohrer, while law enforcement officers were conducting their search, the suspect’s fentanyl supplier arrived to make delivery of fentanyl.
“Task Force Officer’s and Morgan County Deputies were able to intercept a large quantity of fentanyl and oxycodone tablets that are possibly counterfeit and made of compressed fentanyl,” Sheriff Bohrer said in his release.
Another $1,600 of U.S. currency was seized from the person making the drug delivery. The individual was subsequently placed under arrest and taken to the Eastern Regional Jail.
At this time, this investigation is ongoing.
