Ruby “Ramona” Creek

1938-2022

Ruby “Ramona” Creek, age 84, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Wednesday, May 11, 2022, at her home, surrounded by her loved ones and under the care of Hospice of Washington County.

Born February 16, 1938, at home, in Washington County, Md., she was the daughter of the late Calvin and Ruby (Bishop) Walls.

She was a graduate of the Hancock High School Class of 1956 and remained close friends with many of her classmates.

She retired from London Fog after 30 years. She had also worked for Jacob Brothers and GC Murphy earlier in her career.

She was a devoted Christian and had a powerful relationship with the Lord.

She remained an active member of Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church all through her life.

She had an adventurous spirit; she enjoyed theme parks and rode roller coasters with her great-grandchildren into her eighties.

She also loved traveling, especially cruises and bus trips. She loved going shopping and out to eat with her siblings and friends; her favorites included Olive Garden, milkshakes and French fries with gravy. She also enjoyed the little things in life, like watching hummingbirds circle outside her living room window, cheering for the Baltimore Orioles, and supporting her grandchildren through every sporting event, school program, graduation, wedding, baby shower and birthday.

Ramona is survived by her son, Olan William Creek, III; seven grandchildren: Heather Creek, Terra Creek, January (Creek) Weber and her husband Chad, Hannah (Creek) Ritz and her husband Dakota, Kyra Creek, Billy Creek and Addison Creek; three great-grandchildren, Taylor (Souders) Valentine, Laurel Ruby Souders, and Olan Lane; one expected great-granddaughter, Oakley Kathryn Ritz; one brother, Fred Walls, and his wife Jean; and one sister, Carol (Walls) Swope.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 63.5 years, Olan William “Bill” Creek, Jr., in 2019. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her brothers Johnny Walls, Jerry Walls, Ronald Walls and Harold Walls.

Her family received friends and relatives at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock, on Sunday, May 15, 2022, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at the church one hour prior to the funeral services on Monday, May 16, 2022. Funeral services were held at the Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church, 14253 Exline Road, Hancock, MD at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2022. The Reverend Ron Martin-Minnich officiated. Interment followed in the adjoining church cemetery.

Memorial donations in Ramona’s name may be made to Mt. Olivet Presbyterian Church at the above address.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Grove Funeral Home.
