Rita Ilene Holohan, 79, of Little Orleans, Md. passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021, at the UPMC Cumberland, Md.

Born Sunday, December 28, 1941, in Washington, DC, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Laura (Hoffman) Hopfer and wife of Stephen M. Holohan who she married in 1963.

She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Hancock, Md., and was a volunteer in Christmas for Others in Hancock.

In addition to her husband she is survived by two children; one son, Stephen M. Holohan, Jr. and wife Marianne Monachello; a daughter, Denise M. Marshall and husband Joseph; three granddaughters, Colleen Holohan, Jennifer M. Younker and husband Sam and Darleane M. Lowe; four great-grandchildren, Adien L. Lowe, Rion J. Lowe, Laci E. Lowe, and Olivia M. Younker; five sisters, Barbara A. Hopfer, Joann M. Erskine, Judith Downs, Arlene Wheeler and Dorothy M. Hopfer; three brothers, Stephen E. Hopfer, Daniel W. Hopfer and Raymond Hopfer and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded by one brother, James F. Hopfer.

There will be a gathering of friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 W. Main St., Hancock Md., on Friday, December 17, from 6-8 p.m. with a memorial Mass of Christian Burial held on Saturday, December 18, at 11 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, 16 E. High St, Hancock, Md. Rev. Joseph Langan will be celebrant. Burial will follow in the adjoining church cemetery.
