Hancock students are raising funds to help find a cure for leukemia and other cancers.
The Pennies Patient fundraiser has been going for 14 years with a total of over $29,000 raised by students at Hancock Elementary and Hancock Middle-Senior High School.
Due to the 2020 COVID/Quarantine, the fundraiser was able to take place, but School Counselor David “Doc” Holliday is bringing it back for the 15th year.
The goal for this year is $2,095.35, which is an average of the last 14 years.
The three-week campaign runs from Thanksgiving Break to Christmas Break, which is November 29 through December 17, which Holliday said is a season of hope.
“Please help your child to collect pennies and other change or denomination,” Holliday said in a release.
Class prizes will be given at Hancock Elementary and the students on the class giving the most at the elementary school and Hancock Middle-Senior High School will receive Sheetz and Pizza Hut coupons as a reward for a job well done.
