Morgan County Expo is this Saturday

by Kate Evans

The 2022 Morgan County Expo will take place this Saturday, July 23 at Berkeley Springs State Park and the Country Inn. The event features musical entertainment, art, exhibits, a watermelon-eating contest at 1 p.m., the 4-H cake auction and other fun.

The Morgan County Expo starts at 10 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m., said WVU Morgan County Extension Agent Cindy Smalley. The Youth Art in the Park event is also happening at the park from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Smalley said that the deadline for open class Expo entries is Wednesday.  People need to bring their Expo entries to The Country Inn on Friday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

Judging for entries is set for Saturday morning, Smalley said. The public can see the entries at The Country Inn on Saturday from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.  4-H projects will be on display at Hunter’s Hardware.

They are doing the 4-H cake auction this year, Smalley said.  It will be held at 3 p.m. at the Berkeley Springs State Park gazebo if the weather cooperates.  The cake auction entries can be seen at The Country Inn before the auction.

BlackCat Music is handling the musical entertainment, which starts at noon.  The Young Ukes, Laz Rapidaz and the School of Rock will be performing.

There will be a free Moonbounce and snow cones will be available for purchase.  Smalley said they’re encouraging Expo-goers to support downtown food vendors.

Smalley is looking forward to Saturday’s Expo.  It’s a smaller event much like last year’s Expo. She said they’re always looking for more volunteers to help put it on.
