Minervia Jean Johnson
1942-2021
Minervia Jean Johnson, 78, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 in Hagerstown.
Born December 4, 1942, in Mercersburg, Pa., she was a daughter of the late Emmert V. and Rose P. Rubeck Bowers.
Jean was raised in Mercersburg and was the youngest of 14 children.
She married Allen Johnson on March 8, 1976.
Jean worked for Brandt Cabinet Works and was also a caregiver for the elderly in her community.
She was an avid animal lover and loved cats in particular.
Jean is survived by her daughter, Renee (Robert Sr.) McQuade of McConnellsburg; two grandchildren, Chelsey Lanehart and Shianne Lanehart; a close niece Carla Strait and many other relatives.
Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Allen Johnson (2003); sisters: Hazel Atherton, Mildred Ensminger, Florence Hassler, Grace Long, Myrtle Earley, Lottie Keefer, Clara Deck, Edna Overcash, Betty Blair and brothers: Allen, Grover, Harold and Frederick (Sam) Bowers.
A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Washington County Humane Society.
