Milton Bernice Simpson
1937-2021
Milton Bernice “Bernie” Simpson, age 84, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at his home while under the care of Hospice of the Panhandle.
Born July 12, 1937 in Dunbar, Va., he was the son of the late Bernice Oakley and Madeline Ella Thacker Simpson.
He was a member of Berkeley Baptist Church.
Bernie attended Appalachia High School in Appalachia, Va.
He served as an air policeman in the U.S. Air Force from October 25, 1956 until his honorable discharge at the rank of E-3 on October 25, 1960. He had worked as a mail carrier with the U.S. Postal Service.
Bernie enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was very active in church affairs.
Bernie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Florence Simpson, at home; two sons, Michael Simpson and his wife Laura of Sykesville, Md. and Alan Simpson of Strasburg, Va.; five grandchildren, Erin Fornwalt (husband Ben) of Stephens City, Va., Amber Hard (husband Ethan) and Riley Simpson, both of Reisterstown, Md., Jonathan Simpson of Arnold, Md. and Jamie Simpson of Dayton, Ohio; two great-grandchildren, Aubrey Fornwalt and Brian Fornwalt, both of Stephens City, Va. and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Conley Lee Simpson.
Services and interment will be private.
