Kenneth Leon Hendershot, Sr., 74, of Warfordsburg, Pa., passed away on Monday, December 13th, 2021, in Falls Church, Va.
Born May 1, 1947, in Buck Valley, Pa., he was the son of the late Helen Leasure Hendershot and Donald Lee Hendershot.
He was an avid racecar fan and loved to drag race. He enjoyed visiting with friends at the Warfordsburg Senior Center. His smile could light up a room. He had a wicked sense of humor and never knew a stranger!
He was of the Christian faith and always talked about his faith in God and Jesus. He attended Finding Grace Church, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
He was a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Hancock, Md., and a member of the UAW at Mack Truck.
He is survived by his fiancé, Josephine Jenkins; three sons, Brian Hendershot, and wife Lindalee of Edmond, Okla., Gary Hendershot, and wife Irene, of Waianae, Hawaii, and Kenneth Hendershot Jr., and wife Trish, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three stepchildren, Rhonda Weddle, of Charlotte, N.C, Mikki Younker-Lyons, of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., and Sheryl Younker, of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren, Dorothy Ailshie, Kenneth Hendershot III, Daniel Hendershot, Noah Hendershot and Joseph Hendershot; nine step-grandchildren, Caden and Ethan Rutherford, Chase and Hunter Weddle, Amber Sigel, Holly Ward, Hannah and Emily Barnes and Harli Lyons; five great-grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Jackson Hendershot, and wife Anna, of Wilkes Barre, Pa., Donna Hendershott, and husband, John Ronald, of Big Cove Tannery, Pa., Sharon Morris, and husband, Robert, of Mercersburg, Pa., Rick Hendershot, and wife, Jan of Lititz, Pa., Marcia Keebaugh, of Needmore, Pa. and Michelle Sipes, and husband Calvin, of Martinsburg, W.Va.; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sharon Hendershot and a brother, Ronald Eugene Hendershot.
The family will receive friends Thursday, January 6, 6-8 p.m. at Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main St., Hancock, Md. Funeral services will be held January 7, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Pastor Delmas Bard and Pastor Jack Hiles will officiate. Burial will follow at Jerusalem Christian Church Cemetery in Warfordsburg, Pa.
