Indians golf team kicks off 2021 fall season

by Jamie Harris

Just as they have every fall sports season, the Berkeley Springs Indians golf team and longtime head coach Dale McCumbee kicked off the 2021 season with the Tri-County Invitational this past week.

The Indians were led by tournament low medalist senior Sara Veara (75). Dakota Hamrick (104), Truly Henry (123) and Peyton Caldwell (138) rounded out the scoring for the Tribe. As a team, the Indians (440) were sixth out of the seven-team field. Class AAA golf power Washington took home the team title.

“We only have four players that started the season and one new potential player that came out late. Senior Sara Veara, sophomores Dakota Hamrick and Truly Henry and freshman Peyton Caldwell. Veara was the low medalist for the Tri County Invitational. All of her hard work and tournament play in the off-season paid off in her first tournament of the year. We are playing Monday and Tuesday, August 9 and 10, in Parkersburg in the Wheeling Callaway High School series tournaments,” stated Coach McCumbee.

If any potential players in grades 9-12 are still interested in playing, contact Coach McCumbee at 304-671-6848.
