A man from Indianapolis, Indiana, was killed early Saturday morning when the tractor-trailer he was driving overturned near Sandy Mile Road on Interstate 68.
According to Maryland State Police, just after 5 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, Troopers from the Hagerstown Barack responded to a motor vehicle collision on westbound I-68 at the 77-mile marker.
Upon arriving at the scene, the first Trooper located the 2019 Peterbilt tractor-trailer off the roadway and overturned.
Police said the driver was the only occupant of the tractor-trailer and pronounced deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Preliminary investigation revealed the tractor-trailer was traveling westbound on the interstate in the are of the Sandy Mile Road overpass, just west of Hancock when 39-year old Harpal Singh traveled off the right side of the roadway for an unknown reason and overturned.
Police said the roadway remained open during the investigation.
