Connie L. French
1932-2021
Connie L. French, age 89, of Hancock, Md., passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 at the Winchester Medical Center, in Winchester, Va.
Born February 10, 1932, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late William and Elsie Hovermale; and the widow of her first husband, John Bowers; and her second husband, Gerald “Dewey” French.
She was a member of the Highland United Methodist Church, in Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
Her hobbies were watching wrestling and NASCAR on TV, and she was an avid Redskins fan. She loved to cook and bake, especially zucchini bread, but most importantly, she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by one daughter, Tammy J. Dickey and her husband, Wayne “Tatter,” of Hagerstown, Md.; a son, John M. Bowers, of Hancock, Md.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Roy and Carl Hovermale, both of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
The family will receive friends at the Grove Funeral Home, 141 West Main Street, Hancock, on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, from 6 until 8 p.m., and for one hour prior to services on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021, at the Highland United Methodist Church, 1302 Valley Road, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with Pastor Kenneth Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining Church cemetery.
