The sounds of furious fiddles, guitars and golden vocals with an Irish lilt greeted concertgoers and passers-by in Berkeley Springs State Park last Saturday, July 30 for a mid-season performance of Concerts in the Park, a free summer series produced by Morgan Arts Council.
House of Hamill performed an energetic mix of originals, Irish and American folk music, and Celtic classics during two lengthy sets on a balmy evening.
A hundred or more people sat in their stadium or beach chairs, while others lounged on blankets or played in Warm Springs Run as the trio played and bantered with the crowd.
Four concerts remain in the series, with The Nighthawks performing next, on Saturday, August 6 starting at 5:30 p.m. in the same location. In the event of rain, the concert will be held at the Ice House.
The Nighthawks are celebrating 50 years as one of D.C.’s best-known blues and roots rock bands with a new album released this year entitled “Established 1972.”
Concerts in the Park are free and open to the public. They are sponsored in part by Travel Berkeley Springs, The Naked Olive, Gat Creek Furniture, Cacapon Cyber Solutions, and River Bend Family Medicine.
